Join us to make, play, and create with sand globes, clean the beach, and be a part of the dozens of synchronized global "Hands Across the Sand" gatherings taking place that day. Hands Across the Sand raises awareness about the dangers of dirty fuels and about the need to speed the transition to clean energy. Our shared oceans and beaches are threatened by offshore drilling and by sea level rise due to climate change.

What are sand globes? See this gallery of sand globe photos collected by Zach Pine. It usually takes Zach about ten minutes to teach and guide first-timers to make a grapefruit-sized globe. The process of making them feels great, and combining beach cleanup with globe-making evokes a wonderful feeling of environmental and social connection.

Schedule of activities (no speeches, no tabling):

11:00am-11:55am - Beach cleanup and sand globe instruction, creation, and play.
11:55am-12:00pm - Gathering to thank partners. Written informational materials from partners will be made available to participants.
12:00pm-12:10pm - Composing ourselves in a line for our "Hands Across the Sand" photo.
12:10pm-1:00pm - Beach cleanup and sand globe instruction, creation, and play.

For the beach cleanup, bring your own buckets and gloves or use ours. Sieves are very handy for screening the small, nasty stuff.

Note: dogs are often off leash at this beach.
